After spending many days preparing for Sunday’s event (hanging paintings, cutting labels, cleaning, etc.) I was really excited to see the entire show put together. However, the opening exhibit on Sunday was my first experience at an art gallery event not only as an intern, but in general – I had no idea what to expect! As soon as the show began, though, and artists and customers trickled in, many of the interns were able to interact with both and discuss all components of the pieces. It was really interesting to hear everyone’s opinions and views on everything, from the mediums used down to the picture’s frame. It was also really special to see that some of our own William and Mary professors had stopped by to check out the show! All in all, the general vibe in the gallery was very upbeat, with music playing in the background, conversations about art all over the room, and exchanges between friends. It was a great experience and I can’t wait until our next show opening!
